ABOUT OUR CHAPTER
Our chapter was built off of the values and beliefs that were envisioned by the organization Dear Asian Youth. Here in Bergen County, we hope to empower Asian Americans to use their voice and creativity to envision a better society for future generations through education and activism. By empowering, educating, encouraging young students in our community, we can and will create change.
EMPOWER
Dear Asian Youth aims to build a community that empowers all Asians to be proud of their individual heritages as well as their unique culture. In addition, Bergen County is rather different due to our diverse environment. Therefore, we hope to be able to attract individuals of many different cultures.
EDUCATE
By educating our peers, we learn a great deal about one another and ourselves. Activist education essentially helps to connect student action with ideas regarding power, fairness, democracy, and hope. Activism begins with education, which is easily achieved through communication with our peers.
ENCOURAGE
We hope to create a supportive community and give our peers a safe place to voice their concerns, ideas, and beliefs. We are the future, and it is important to involve ourselves politically and socially. In order to combat social injustice, we must encourage others to share their perspectives and express their beliefs.
